About Chris

Chris is a freelance writer living in the New England area of northern New South Wales, Australia. His career has spanned graphic design, multimedia development, web site development, marketing, and managing the family farm. His interests include politics, the environment, IT and the arts.

I’ve always been a writer. I remember a time when I couldn’t quite spell my name correctly (Christopher was a little trickier to get a handle on than Toby or Kate) but I wrote it everywhere, regardless. I remember filling lined notepads with stories based on cartoons that I’d seen on TV, or things I’d learned at school. Rows of irregularly shaped letters strolled across the paper, sometimes in unusual directions, sometimes with arrows connecting related thoughts across the page.

When computers started making their way into schools – and then homes – I loved playing games on them, of course; but I also loved firing up a word processor and getting some of the ideas out of my head and into a tidier form. Despite my mediocre grades in high school English, I still remember one of my teachers saying they looked forward to reading my first novel. I’ve made them wait a while…

Throughout my working life, writing has played an important role. From creating web site content to media releases, user documentation or business reports, words were always one of my favourite tools.

Now I’ve come to a place where I have both the opportunity and the desire to really focus on what I’ve always loved to do: write.

I hope my words will be of interest to others, but even if my mum is the only person they impress, I will have enjoyed putting them out into the universe.
